|| Bilingual Education Act was the first act to affirm the use of language other than English. English and another language have the same station in public school. During the following 30 years, the act was amended for five times in 1974,1978,1984,1988 and 1994, that made the act maturity and suitable. The importance of this act is that it gave all the children equal opportunity to study in the public school using their native languages. But the controversy about it had never been terminated. The English-only movement and official language movement brought strong effect to it. In 2001, the congress passed “No Child Left Behind” that in fact terminated the life of Bilingual Education Act. The main body of this thesis contains three parts to analyze US Bilingual Education Policy.
